Tatiana Giacinti is a gifted French film photographer whose lens has traversed continents and captured the essence of urban America. Born and raised in the picturesque embrace of Greater Paris, Tatiana’s photographic journey began in the early 2000s, when she embarked on her first trip to America, Princeton, New Jersey, where she spent a memorable year working as an Au Pair. Her restless spirit has always resisted settling in one place, leading to a nomadic lifestyle shaped by the constant ebb and flow between the United States and France. Today, Tatiana calls Des Moines, Iowa, her home, a place where her creative soul has found stability for more than a decade. Tatiana’s passion for film photography intertwines seamlessly with her full-time career in marketing. Her frequent travels provide a canvas for her artistry, each journey captured with analog cameras that lend her work a dreamy, nostalgic finish. Favoring a minimalist approach to street photography, she highlights trivial places of everyday life, finding humor and unexpected symmetry in ordinary landscapes, or even revealing beauty where others see only the mundane. Her typical subjects range from buildings, classic cars, motels, retro signage, western Route 66 roads, to palm trees and cacti. One of her most notable projects, #somewhereindesmoines, began in June 2014 during her first visit to Des Moines. With her mighty film camera, she embarked on a visual journey to capture the unexposed details of the streets, preserving the city's hidden charms through a minimalist lens. Beyond her photographic pursuits, Tatiana is a fervent advocate of the Des Moines art community. She lends her artistic vision and dedication to Des Moines. Tatiana supports local galleries, participates in art fairs, and collaborates with fellow creatives to foster a vibrant cultural scene. Her enthusiasm for community engagement is matched only by her commitment to making art accessible to all.Tatiana's work has been featured in numerous exhibitions locally, earning her recognition and admiration from peers and art enthusiasts alike. Her photographs not only document the changing face of urban America but also serve as a bridge between cultures, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and connect with the stories woven into each frame.
